So, hypothetical situation that I thought might be quite interesting. Here is the scenario:

The DVLA announce, effective tomorrow, a person may only hold a licence to either; drive a car or ride a bike. No multiple categories or entitlements. This will be in effect permanently.

So, which do you choose? Cars or bikes?

To make the situation a cleaner affair; a bike licence encompasses all two wheel motor vehicles including 50/100/125cc (which is removed from the car licence entitlement) and a car licence covers trikes as well as cars.

With that in mind; what do you have and how does it impact you're day-to-day life? Do you have a few bikes for different situations or one that covers the bases. Similarly for cars.

And just to stop the obvious; you're current circumstances are still applicable. None of this "I'd sell my CBR600 and buy a Pagani Zonda to get my thrills"; if you can't afford it now, then it doesn't count.

So; the thrill and traffic-dodging ease of the bike or the comfort, practicality and versatility of the car?

Yes, I am fking bored.

I'd go bike; but probably for the same reason that people would choose to drive.

Whilst the bike is a toy, I ride for pleasure rather than need. I drive because it is easier and lazier, not really for fun. I have a TVR currently, but since I've had the bike, I am selling it due to lack of use.

I'd rather have a bike all the time and take the highs & lows that come with that, than never ride again and miss that feeling.

I very highly doubt I'd ever afford a car that gives that same rush you get from a fairly powerful bike. Granted there are Westfields or Caterhams, but I don't find they give the same 'holy fk' you get from a bike.

Plus I'd make the missus drive.

Well the OP was far more clear cut in my head, I read it as either cars or bikes, no ifs, no buts. Things like I'll do with the bikes and the missus can drive are a bit of a cop out in my opinion.
It's a fantasy, so why try and find a workable compromise?
