Arai RX7-V - What a mess

I was at the NEC today and fully intended to satisfy my unnatural helmet fetish by getting the Pedrosa version of the new RX7-V but wow, what a terrible chunk of helmet it is. It was nowhere near as comfortable as the RX7 Corsair/GP and the small shell version weighed in a 1,620g! That's about 400g more than a Shoei NXR! It didn't even do a good job hiding its weight like some other weighty lids can manage.

The materials inside were pretty shocking for a £600 lid, too. It didn't feel plush and I strongly suspect that after a few months use it'd be pretty grim in there.

The Shoei X-Spirit 3 looked pretty amazing but I didn't get a chance to fondle one.

Really disappointed with Arai.

Should probably have added that the lower profile side pods are a huge improvement but they really should think of something better altogether.

I use ear plugs with all my helmets so noise has never really been an issue.
