I'm selling my old bike on eBay and someone sent me a message asking me if I'd sell them the Givi rack and top box that are being sold with the bike and the touring seat (which admittedly is an extra).

WTF?

Why would I take off the rack and top box when it's all listed in the advert on eBay and I have bids on the bike for more than the starting price? I was hoping to avoid some of this stuff by not putting it on Gumtree...

I guess so - just weird that anyone would think you'd actually do that.

My thinking was that the add-ons makes it more desirable and people will buy a ready made commuter with all the bits rather than having to go with a bike without.

It then comes down to condition and mine isn't cosmetically pretty. Mechanically sound but not something that you'd want to take home to meet your parents.

Interesting. I hadn't really considered it like that. I'll think about that for next time.

Well the bike sold at a good price complete with all the bits. Thanks for the suggestions. I'll do that next time.
