2016 IOM TT round-up: PH2
Fast, and a bit furious, the 2016 TT sees records tumble
You have to say this year's TT was dominated by two riders - Ian Hutchinson and Michael Dunlop. Not only did Hutchy win the Superstock TT, he also took the two Supersport races, extending his unbeaten Supersport record to four TTs and claiming his 14th TT win. Dunlop, on the other hand, not only cracked the magical 133mph barrier in taking the Superbike TT win, he also set the first sub-17min lap and went on to set the fastest ever TT lap of 133.962mph during his Senior TT win. A few tense words then followed between the pair, marring slightly what was a stunning TT fortnight for them both. But what of the old and new guard?
Fair play to John McGuinness - he might not have been able to take a TT win but two solid thirds in the Superbike and Senior was a very good result. He must be gutted about losing out on the Zero TT win when his Mugen died. Bruce Anstey collected the Zero win, but an accident in practice left Bruce off the pace during the racing. Hats off to Dean Harrison, who rode superbly all week and demonstrated he is a future star, and James Hiller, the old boy Michael Rutter, David Johnson on the Norton, Ivan Lintin, Conor Cummins and the unlucky Peter Hickman were also mightily impressive. In fact, everyone who rode at the TT was impressive.
Inevitably there is often sadness at the TT as well and this year we lost several riders in both the solo and sidecar classes, so our thoughts go out to all their families. Paul Shoesmith, who was killed during practice, was awarded the 2016 PokerStars Spirit of the TT in recognition of his contribution to the event. Shoesmith's family collected the award.

Hicky was running in third in the seniors race prior to the first pit stop and subsequent retirement.
Only his third TT, and he's proving himself to be one of the top guys. Got fourth in the superbike race too.
Appropriate to mention the 5 fatalities as well- 4 in the TT and Dean Martin in the pre TT racing on the Billown course.
High price to pay, but I guess they all know he risks of road racing.
