Hi peeps, am fixing to get a new bike (to me) next year and as it's so close Castle Combe beckons for some trackday stuff as the Circuit O Cymru seems ever disappearing on the horizon.

Am looking at something that'll get under the noise regs, which rather narrows my list of ideal bikes, GSXR750's K6 and 7 are out but dunno about the K8, it's got a longer silencer but on the CCwww they appear to have K6 1000's as not passing with a stock exhaust and that's about the same length as the K8 750. Obviously the 3/4 rev is rather doing it for these higher redlined bikes and I guess a later 750's going to redline higher than an earlier model 1000 so am a bit concerned that'd not pass either, 2008 R1's are also on there as not passing, I'm thinking someone had a big bang one with a 2008 plate as I can appreciate the firing order of those will move a lot of air but the 07 and 08 weren't big bangers.

Anyone had any experience with this, ie anyone got a k8 750 onto the circuit when it's not a noisy day.....

Yep I went on the www which is why I'm questioning the 2008 R1 and K6 1000, doesn't make entire sense if it's just silencer length unless the www info's wrong which is eminently possible. They are plagued by noise regs and are very limited on noisy days and use those for racing but that's the way of things.
Have done one before there ages ago, on an h2 ZXR 750 and that was just ok with a baffled Micron but those old cans are long in relation and that old bus didn't rev to high heaven. Not an easy circuit by any means, I rather liked it.

We're Midsomer Norton so probably our next closest is Brands! Which'd be my preferred.

Having seen the MGP and WSB at Silverstone I wouldn't have thought it's so hot for road bikes as it's flat as anything and the curves are designed more for the cars. Donnington tho' that's a proper one.

Will probably end up with a Daytona or a 636 of the 2005/6 vintage or an 07/08 CBR6 when they were at their best but do fancy a 750 again as those few extra cubes count on the road so the only one is the Suzuki and all the ones I'd probalby want to go for have those stubby pipes.

Yep, it's the higher rev speed they test at CC, 3/4 to redline, might be 10 thou on a GSXR 750, will be a load louder at that engine speed, the test you're on about is the Std ACU one and CC can't do that due to the council making them much stricter as it's so close to the village, tho' they do the tests on the village side of the circuit I notice.........
