Hi all,

I've been a lifelong Viper fan having grown up with it (born in '89). I had models of it as a kid, remember it winning at Le Mans and seeing the car at the British motorshow in the NEC complete with racing grime all over it. I had a great VHS from Duke that I used to watch (and now have on DVD) that covered the RT/10 and the GTS and went into the GTS-R as well (my favourite). I can still remember my first time seeing one in the wild. I had gone on holiday with my parents in 2004 to California and we were walking up Sunset when a blue/white stripes GTS coupe pulled up. What a moment!

So fast forward to last weekend. I visited the Haynes Motor Museum in Sparkford with my Dad for his Birthday. Great place with a decent collection of cars. Went into one room and it was like our personal 4 car perfect garage... GT40 (rep), 911 2.7 RS Touring (not sure if replica or not), XJ220 and... a viper RT/10!

So we were having a good look around when one of the volunteers approached us and started telling us a little bit more about the cars and the museum etc. Nice guy and really interesting to hear (for example they have a track and he was telling us about having a blast in the D type while one of his colleagues came passed in the GT40). Then he comes out with "do you fancy sitting in one?"... only one answer for me... Viper please!

Just makes me want to own one even more!

Great story and pics. Nice Countach next to the RT/10 too.

Re: the USA story, in early 2003 we saw a brand new silver SRT10 convertible driving in Florida followed by a black RT/10, so I did an emergency U turn and chased them in our rental minivan while my sister got our camcorder out for some (rather shaky) footage. Later that same day they were parked up at the Old Town cruise in Kissimmee and it turned out they were both owned by the same person. I must have re-watched that old video hundreds of times over the years, and I vowed back then that 'one day..........' etc

It took a further 12 years, but eventually I managed to get my dream car.
That gives me hope!
