Renewed all 4 CV joints,
Renewed all PS hoses,
Remade PS bottle bracket,
Tried to bend rear ARB to get better action, failed smile,
Raised and twisted engine on its mounts cause the y piece tail was touching the chassis,
Cut off 2 locking wheel nuts, (don't ask!),
Found cause of rattles under car, (all damper ally rose joint sleeves had wear),
Various checking and fiddling about.

Cheers Simon, another long but good day! thumbup

That's before they came good.

My first Ktm was the leccy start 250 swiftly followed by a new 525 EXC that I had for 6 years. What a bike, used it for about 20K miles of trail riding, 3 stage trials and trial bike rallies. It never, ever broke down or had to be repaired, superb.
It would pull wheelies off the throttle in 3rd gear all day long, sadly missed frown

That does look the business Neal!

Lucky you don't know how to go round bends so I'll be safe laugh

I did bugger all yesterday, just a drive to visit my old mum in orspital and then nearly wiped out by a numpty in a crap 90s left hooker Mustang who didn't see me FFS, evasive action and burying the throttle saved the day!

Actually this morning smile

Reproofed the roof, 2nd coat to go on later.

Also in the process of renewing the ally spacers to the dampers as the original seem to have too much play.

GAZ kindly machined a new set to a finer tolerance FOC, good guys thumbup

I believe my rattling was down to the clearance inbetween the mounting bolts and the GAZ ally bushes in the ends of the dampers, might be worth checking.

Mine had 15-20 thou clearance so they machined some new bushes with practically no clearance at all!

Fitted today but not tested due to excessive crappy weather!

Took newly serviced Monos off and replaced them with my set of Gaz Golds.

The rattling has gone!

The only thing i can think of is that the monos rose joints have a little play.

From simple road miles I think the Golds may be a bit crashy but it's hard to say with such limited miles.

The Monos would come into their own on track when they really get a work out.

When I had Pro-Techs on track and all damping was lost after a session, I felt them and they were red hot to the touch!

The Monos have never failed.

For the record, my Monos have done over 30K miles.

Done over 30K on mine so don't worry!

If it is a matter of the rose joints, it's a half hour job to replace them at most. I've already pressed a couple out.

I'll call GAZ on Monday and get a set put in the post.

All is not lost although I have wasted a lot of time looking for the culprit!

Ah, the old GAZ rubbish scenario.

Daz had his problems and a set of Nitrons sorted him, who knows.

As to the Monos, after tracking with a set of Pro-Techs, the Monos were a revelation, never, ever playing up, going soft or throwing up some sort of fault.

That was with 30+ TDs so if the rose joints have a little play then I'm not surprised.

My only gripe is that when they were serviced that they didn't pick that up. On the flip side, they are still smooth and if is very hard to detect any play.

Maybe I'm just fussy!

Can't you just smear some copper grease on them to stop the rattling?
Tried that.

New rose joints will just be a few quid and then a couple of hours to fit them.

No noise from the Golds. Just have come back from a 30 mile spin down country lanes with the roof off.

So definitely a problem with the monos, mst likely the rose joints that I'll renew this week.
