Might have miss heard what he said but does he really have a 570bhp from a 4ltr rover engine. I know you guys on this forum dream of Cerbera levels of power but I by the looks of it just stick with what you got.

Firstly this was my first run out after taking delivery of the car - Brands is not a place to muck about if you are not 100% confident, second I was taking out a random who wanted to experience a TVR - so was taking it easy. It was also before we had even had it rolling roaded properly - and before it had the larger pulley put on.

Just to remind everyone it is 360BHP (390BHP if I was on Surrey rolling road tongue out ) and 380lbs of torque.

A better video of track day run - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i9f5jk2DT4w

Or run @ Santa Pod - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xuDzmInPzb8
As the topic of the thread say's " 570bhp Really " I have seen the car in the at the local TVR meet and its very well done and a one off car. However, You should have saved your dad all the bother an bought a Cerbera. They make around 380bhp from the factory. Better looking too.

The 4.2 cerb doesn't make anywhere near 380, not sure about the 4.5.

engineers low mileage cerb couldn't match the "good" chims for speed on the track.
A good 4.2 is about 350bhp, a good 4.5 is 380bhp with a remap they would make 370bhp to 400bhp respectively.
Never had any trouble passing a chimp on a track in the Cerb or my 306 pug for that matter. About equal up to 60mph then I sail by.

The chimaera, like it or not really is a cloth cap and pipe brigade type of car. I might even get one when I retire.

Happy Easter !!!!.

We have bought a cerbera but its going to be ls powered it is currently in millions of bits in our workshop plus at snetterton i used it for a day and the orange chim thrashed me.

Its nice if you are rescuing a wreak of a car but its a tragedy if its a good one. The AJP engine is the only part of this car that makes it unique. A LS engine in a Cerbera will work well but its no longer a Cerbera. I run a Vortec SC on mine and have covered about 3k miles with no problems. About 7psi boost no intercooler totally home made apart from the mapping by Emerald. It reliably makes 530bhp. I'll be at the next Berkshire TVR meet in Bracknell. Hopefully you will all be there as well.

For comparison I've been in a1rak's supercharged AJP Cerb (530bhp), and I've also been in (& driven) my mate's LS3 Cerb (480bhp).

The truth is on the road you'll be very hard pressed to notice any difference between the two in performance terms.

So in the end it comes down to refinement & drivability, and for me its the LS car that leads the way in this department, however I freely admit my time in a1rak's supercharged AJP Cerb was limited to short return run to & from the Ace Cafe around the North Circular and 2 junctions up the M1 and it was suffering detonation then.

I have to say every time I witness that LS engined Cerbera I'm left hugely impressed, it's not so much the immense power & endless torque (which is epic BTW) but it's the incredible refinement and drivability that means you can really use & enjoy all that power.

Going back to the Cerbera vs Chimaera debate I'll make two points:

1) You can always make a Chimaera Cerbera fast by adding forced induction, but you'll never enjoy the thrill of open air motoring in a Cerbera.

2) Weight!!! - I'll explain....

Forget what TVR said, a Cerbera carrying half a tank of fuel will weigh 1240kg.

A Chimaera with a similar fuel load will always be under 1100kg.

How does this extra 140kg affect things?

Well, for a Chimaera to match a1rak's 530hp Cerb power to weight ratio of 427 bhp per ton it needs to be putting out 470hp.

So to match the performance of a1rak's supercharged AJP Cerb all you need is a fairly standard 5 litre Chimaera with an SC Power supercharger kit, an after market ECU & a intercooler.

If you want to match a normally aspirated AJP Cerb it's even easier, all you need is a 4 litre Chimaera with an SC Power supercharger kit.

And your blown baby engined Chim will make more torque in a far more linear way than any normally aspirated Cerb, so in the real world the Chimaera will be the faster car.

Run your supercharged 4 litre Chimaera on LPG and it'll be Ford Fiesta economical too wink

"Ferrari Fast - Fiesta Frugal"

I was wondering how long it would take for you to join in. I thought you would give your common sense measured reply , Well done and thanks. I merely stated that the driver of the orange Chimp appears to say he has 570bhp on the video his thread from that point on you all went into meltdown.

Why were you not at the Ace café last week TVR's were out numbered by bloody Lotus's. You should encourage you fellow chimp owners to attend its usually a better night than the local TVR meets.

Yes, but our 500bhp engine will do 100,000 miles without needing an oil change smile - and yours will have required 20 services.

and if I hear one more person whine about us removing the AJP I think I will video throwing it off a bridge just to fk you all off smile
make sure you throw the "Cerbera" and the "TVR" badges away as well coz what you got is a kit car. Anyway why are you worried about servicing costs, your dad does yours. wink

I can't speak about driving modified versions of the Chimaera or the Cerbera 4.5
But in the same way that I can swear to you, from new there is no way you could compare the performance of a 4L Chimaera with a 5L Chimaera, there is no way you could compare the 5L Chimaera with a 4.5 Cerbera.

I got out of my relatively new 5L and jumped into a Red Rose 4.5 for a test drive at my dealer's.
The difference in acceleration from 0-100 and beyond was staggering.
The difference in handling was staggering.

It didn't make me want to sell my Chimaera, but it made me want one badly.
If only I hadn't been forced to decide instead on the Volvo C70 Cabriolet for safely transporting my children...
Sometime life just isn't fair banghead

Sorry, but just in case you missed it the first time here it is again.

440 yards. I will beat you 24 times before I need a refill.
so you got 484bhp for a few minutes then what 220bhp for the rest of the day, and all the way home. Sounds like a real drivers car. bow
