I'm trying to remove the exhaust. All was going well until I realized that I had to remove the anti-roll bar.

What is the best way to remove this? Do I need to support the chassis and let the wheels hang to remove the ARB or support the wheels? Is it easy to get off and on again? I don't feel comfortable with the car on four axle stands and currently have the front out riggers supported by concrete blocks with wood under the front corner. I obviously don't want to kill myself or damage the car, would it be safe to add two stands at the rear?

I may just go to a garage...weeping

Cheers for that. I'll leave the back wheels supporting the weight then and drop the centre part of the drop link as suggested. Will have another stab at it tomorrow.

Why is it coming off anyway?
The flexi pipe has broken, so need a new one welding on. Received the new part from Racing Green yesterday, along with two new engine mounts. For anybody that is interested in an EBay alternative flexi, I can post pics and dimensions.

Cheers

Would really like to, but no tax and mot at the moment and the Chim has no stealth mode! Offer appreciated.

Thanks again to the help received on here, it took me about 20 minutes (in the rain) to get the exhaust off today and it is now down at the welders awaiting a fix. Fingers crossed it will be ready next Tuesday. I'll change the Y-piece back for the catted one now ready for the MOT. May as well do an oil change and a blast of Waxoil whilst it's up on the stands.

I need a couple of those rubber mounts for the exhaust plate.

Although I changed mine on my previous chim while it was on axle stands using a block on a jack under the engine.
This my next proper job. How far up do you need to jack it to get the mounts out? Any particular way/ order for changing them?

Easy enough job.

Get the front up on stands.
Remove wheels to help with access.
Take the weight of the mounts by jacking the engine, (a block of wood under the crank pulley in ideal).
Release all the nuts and bolts and wiggle!

Don't forget the spacer plate on the offside mount.
Check you have clearance inbetween the underside of the manifolds and the top chassis rails.
If not, slacken bolts, jack up engine and re tighten.
Thanks again Peter. Sounds worthwhile doing whilst the exhaust and y-piece are out. I may crack on with this on Sunday providing the weather holds out.
