Fuel gauge damping..has anyone or

One of the last things to do my Chimaera (early car with white gauges and flashing!!! low level light) prior to it going back to my sisters and most likely not being used for a while (I really don't know why she does not gripe about it as I have been driving it around for 2 weeks and does my head in!) is to damp the fuel gauge/sender, has it already been done, or have I got to design/make something.
