I had great bank holiday weekend out in my Chim; that was until the Monday when it peed it down all day.

Unfortunately I didn't manage to get the car back in the garage tucked up nice a dry and when I tried to start in Tuesday morning it turned over but wouldn't fire.
I then discovered that the passenger footwell had 2" of water and the ECU and relays were bathing in it. Arrg!

I couldn't do anything but cover the car up this week and keep the ECU and relays on the passenger seat to dry out.

This morning I decided to tackle the problem. I replaced the relays and tried to start the car. It turned over again but didn't fire.

The fuel pump was not running so I checked connections and gave it 12 volts direct. It's working fine.

I then checked the inertia switch, it's working ok but is not receiving volts from ignition circuits. so no volts at the pump either.

The alarm fob open and closes the car and dash lights all come on as expected so I am now at a loss as to what it is.

Can anybody explain what each of the three relays in the ECU loom do, one is on a black connector, one on a blue connector and the other is on a black with green top connector. There are also two fuse holders in the loom, I don't know what these are for either.

Any advice kindly received.

Great photo spaceman, I don't have AC so no yellow ones, but what is the green topped connector one for?

I also don't have a fuse rated at 100A only two rated 20A and 10A. The 20A was blown when I found the puddle.

Are, I haven't found one like that as yet, I think I need to have a look above the battery, mine ones are quite close to the relays.

you can also see that the blue connector has burnt through, I guess a a result of a short whilst sitting in the puddle.

My battery has been on charge all day and has reached more that 3 lights on my c-tech charger, I am suspecting it might be shot.

ECU is fine, I checked this first before I started. It was clean and dry fortunately .

My fusebox has relocated to behind the passenger seat so there is no wiring above the battery apart from the main terminals that feed the car.

How close to the fuse box is the 80 amp fuse? I might need to take out the passenger seat to gain access to the whole loom run.

Well most of the loom at the ECU end is exposed and it not there. I can see the two large brown wires at the fuse box end, so I can only assume that if this fuse is along the loom its behind the seat bolster, so its going to have to come out.

Got the seat out and traced the loom, no sign of the fuse! The two brown wires are obvious at the fusebox end but where do they go at the other end. The loom appears to go up and inside the dash.

My red and black battery cables and the loom run up into the dash area next to where the passengers right knee would be. There are no cables at all above the battery part form the red and black bolted to the front of the battery box.

I am guessing that the fuse has been relocated inside the dash, or may have been removed altogether.

If the fuse has indeed blown, does that mean that anything connected to the fuse box will have no power? If that is the case then I can check what working an eliminate the fuse, and therefore not have to remove the top of the dash.

I was thinking last night what if the ECU has blown. What things would still work and what would not. Any ideas?

Thanks very much guys for all your help with this, but unfortunately my chim is still stuck on my drive getting in the way of the rest of my families cars.

Today I tried to find the missing 80A fuse but failed again I think it has been hidden under the dash board in a fuse box relocation.
However using a bit of logic, I think that even if the fuse is hidden it hasn't blown as everything in the fuse box appears to be working, hazards, curtsy lights etc.

So the latest is, the car turns over, the fuel pump is now priming thanks to a full day and night of charging the battery and making sure the relays have been replaced I think.

Now I know there is fuel getting through I turned my attention to the ignition. I pulled off one of the leads and got my son to hold it near an earth point whilst I turned it over.
Alas no spark!

I am now thinking that I have actually blown the ECU. Is this the correct logic, or does something else control ignition. Ideas most appreciated!

Qbee your offer would be most appreciated. I am in Dunstable, which is South Beds so it might be a bit far though I do make a mean coffee and have some Deparados in the fridge. Thats if I don't drink them tonight!

Spaceman, from your suggestions I guess the ECU controls the coil and the injectors; so if its duff they won't work?

Tuesday is the only day I am away unfortunately, I can do Wednesday or Friday if that works? Not sure time on Wednesday at the mo but Friday could be anytime.
