I am thinking of having a go at the standing mile soon.
There is an event coming up at Elvington and i think it will be worth taking the day off work.

I now have the gearing with the 3.08 diff and will be using a healthy shot of nitrous (maybe 150).

Does this sound plausable?
1/4 mile in 12 @ 120
1/2 mile in 19 @ 150
full mile in 30 @ 175

I think i would be on the RSRs hence 'only' 12 to the 1/4.
I would be happy yo try it on the MTs tho.

NA i have about 275 @ wheels, then was thinking a 150 shot to give me another say 125 so 400 @ wheels.

Numpty question Derek, but is the nitrous 'on' from launch to finish?
Far from a numpty question Chilli.
I wouldnt want to use it thoughout the run but may need to most of the time to achieve the goal.
A passenger carefully watching the AFR and temps may help.

The numbers earlier should be very close.

With a 2.2 60 ft time (assuming OK on normal rubber) being 11.9 @ 125, the 1 mile vMax is do-able smile.
I would think 2.2 is plenty. Just down to aerodynamics and keeping the gas flowing from a cooling bottle at the top end.
Maybe i would use one system to get the speed up to the 1/2 mile then hit it with a fresh hot bottle for the last 10 seconds or so

I had 158 on the TomTom at the BNG and it felt fine.

My plans for set up would be to lower the car an inch all round, stiffen the Nitrons, and to gaffer tape the roof panel.
I am confident of 165+ but anything over that would be guessing at best

With a 3.08:1 diff and 265/35/18 tyres mine runs a shade over 30 mph/1000 revs in 5th. Atr 3000 rpm i see 91 on the Tomtom. So 175 should be had if i am near to 5800 rpm in 5th.

Before anyone questions the acceleration being affected.
I ran a 10.8/129 1/4 mile last weekend. I was at 102.7 mph at the 1/8th in 7 seconds flat.

Can we work on fly numbers plz, it saves me editing all the individual bhp/rpm entries as I don't have a NA model for your car (thought I did, must have done some tidying up!)

315bhp @ 5500rpm and 340lb/ft at 4500 ? That would be close to 145mph at the mile smile.
I had 328 at the fly according to Surrey rolling road.
Also saw 152 on the TomTom without gas (i think) at the BNG which i estimated was 0.8 mile
I saw 158 later in the day with a 70 shot

I wonder how much the drag is reduced when lowering the car. Maybe tape the shuts (only joking).
I think my blended Lupo's will give my another mph at the top end too smile

I 202mph at Bruntingthorpe, might go a bit quicker now it revs a little higher with better valve springs and higher profile tyres, but thats not a standing mile.
It did it very easily but just had no more revs to give at the time.
I reckon it would be 190+ in a mile...

Whats the theory Richard!!??
Hey Paul come to Elvington on the 14th. If you crack 200 in the mile you get a plaque and your place in the exclusive 200 club.
If you fitted a little nitrous kit.....

188 to 200mph is a massive leap, and the calcs wont be that far off, 190mph could be possible i guess, Elvington is flippin miles away!!
You midland folk have it too easy with dragstrips and circuits on your doorstep.
Elvington is at least 2 hours 30 for me if the tractors and caravans arent out.
