I aim to be with the Straightliners at Elvingtion airfield on 21st October.
The event is a standing start with a speed trap at 1 mile.

I will be running NA at first then using some nitrous. I plan to use the nitrous on and off rather than for the whole run and try to time the last couple hundred yards to push the top speed up.

So what do we reckon i will achieve?
I would like to see 155+ NA and 170+ with the gas.

Also i would appreciate any tips. Shall i lower the suspension to decrease drag for example?

My 2 pence worth...

Run a nose down tail high to give some downforce, not much though
Make sure tyres are up to it. Normal inflation say 24 psi
Do you have the front lip splitter since most are broken off, put one on.
Just use your fingertips to steer, geo set up of lots of caster, little camber and little toe in all round
Work your way up to 175-180 then small increments of additional speed. Remember there is a square relationship between drag lift and a small increase in speed may have a large sudden change on the car
Roof is likely to come off by itself at 155 ish. Tuck your trousers into your sox so no one can see how exciting it was!

IMHO 500HP should get to 190....
Dont forget i only have a standing mile for this.
Most of the time will be using a lowly 330bhp then adding 100 and maybe another 70 of gas so will have 500 or so at my disposal top end.
I dont have the lip splitter but i never have and the car felt fine at 158 on the TomTom at BNG.
As for the roof it is a concern. I will be battoning the hatches.... probably with gaffer tape

2 full bottles of nitrous at the ready. Even a nice polish to make it as slippy as possible.
Wish me luck the hurricane winds are in the right direction

Looking Good Derek. Best of luck tomorrow thumbup

It can be done. I remember this on almost continuous loop at Mole Valley (Chessington days), just after it came out.
So, for some inspiration; TVR Standing Mile
So 31.2 to beat then. I wonder what the terminal speed was

It will all come down to the weather tomorrow.

Weather forecast looks decent from mid-morning onwards. I assume you will be letting it dry thoroughly before planting right boot.....?
I assume they wont let people run till its deemed safe.
I guess a full bore launch wont be required as its the top speed that matters not the elapsed time.
Although i do want to get close to 30 seconds so will give it as much as the tyres will allow.

Massive winds from the west predicted locally for tomorrow !!

20something mph gusting to 40something mph ! yikes
A 40mph tailwind down the mile should help the top speed somewhat shouldnt it.
Maybe i will crack 175 eek

I thought downforce equals drag, and isn't that unwanted?
Higher tire pressure will give lower rolling resistance. I'd go 35 psi. Tuck the wing mirrors in so they dont fall off or the glass flies out!
Have fun!
Sorry did I miss something. Who mentioned downforce? Yes tyre pressures will be up and I may lower the ride height also and tighten the show up a little. There will also be gaffer tape as a precautionary measure against losing the roof panel... again

Wow what a day.
There was a nice tailwind which probably helped matters.

First run of the day, no gas just fining my feet... 155 mph
2nd run i used a little gas and saw 162 on the TomTom but no speed was recorded.
3rd run on stage 1 with a 100 shot for the last 1/8th mile... 169.4
4th run using both stages of nitrous ie 100 + 70 left it too late to make a difference... 169.7

last run (ie was happy at this point to call it a day while the car was still in 1 piece)
