I've recently purchased my first TVR , a late 96 Chim 500, Currently running 205/50/15s on the front and 245/45/16s on the rear. i have Toyo T1Rs all round and my rears need replacing soon, however it seems absolutely impossible to find any T1Rs in that size Anywhere. I have been informed these are not discontinued especially in my required size

I only want to drive the car on dry days unless i get caught out in the rain or find my self on a slighly damn back road so i have no intention to drive it in the wet. Looking for Tyres that give the best grip in these driving conditions and dont cost an absolute bomb like the R888s
Im not so worried about tyre wear as id much rather replace my tyres every 10-15k instead of ending up in a hedge with a costly repair bill.

I have just about managed to source someone selling a set of 4 245/45/16s T1Rs for the rear at £400 for the lot but id rather not get more than what i need unless of course someone else here has the same problem as me and wants a set of 2 for £200

So before i fork out for these is there anything else on the market today that is better for my circumstances as i understand the T1Rs are rather dated.
Thanks

After searching i found a few people rating the Uniroyal Rainsport 3, however i cannot seem to find anything larger than 225/50/16 for the rears and i am concerned about dropping from a 245-225 and how this may affect the grip
this is my first RWD car that has enough power to kick the back end out with ease.

R1Rs would be my preferred choice but i cannot find any frown Unless i drop from a 245 to a 225 maybe? can anyone give me some details on what i would lose by doing so. Or would that be compensated with the possibility of using a better tyre that i would not find in the 245 range?
