oil filter

Can I use a generic oil filter from say Halfrauds or do I have to use the more expensive (tvr tax) ones? thanks in advance. Garfy

I have one you can have for free but it does not have a bypass valve in it like alot of cheap one`s .

Daren. I am not very good with the spanners so I have no idea of what this means. Is a bypass valve a good thing or not?
