I will post pictures and details as the rebuild progresses.

Car was bought in August 2010 and they said that they had got the outriggers replaced (more on that later).

6 months after I bought it it one of the cylinder liners came loose so I had a full engine rebuild by TVR Power in Coventry (all 8 top hats).

Car dropped off at RT Racing in Sheffield on 20th February.

Update 1: 3/3/2015

Well the body is off and the truth is revealed.

The replacement outriggers are a pile of crap, the welds are a bag of S**t. Don't know who they used to replace the outriggers but it was a complete waste of time and money.

I think that this is proof that you can't properly replace the outriggers without lifting the body.

So far the extras I have agreed to are:
replacement heat shields
replacement fuel and brake lines

Replacement coolant hoses already bought from ACT for RTR to fit.

Some photos below.

Car on the ramp

First crap weld

Another crap weld, and this is the worst!

This shows a problem with the polybushes.

The bushes can simply move over the small tube that the bolt fits through. It really needs a thrust washer to stop the edge of the bush moving

More later.

mod note no naming and shaming please.

Not really. I'm just telling it like it happened.

No opinions offered, just facts.

Well time for an update.

The car is in bits (somewhat scary seeing the car like this).

Can't really see if there any crap bits (other than the outriggers).

I've also replaced the battery leads with uprated cables and changed the fan connectors to waterproof types.

Dave,
How's the work going at RTR?
They've only just got the chassis back from the blasters so they'll start the metal work next week.

I'll post the photos and the decisions/extras as we get there along with the costs.

Hello,

An update - Getting Jiggy With It

https://www.icloud.com/photostream/#A2GWZuqDG1Ywvt

The old crap has all been cut out and new outriggers welded in correctly.

Note that they have been using a jig to place the outriggers.

As far as I can tell the welding as all done so next will be the powder coating and then the rebuild!!

YEAH driving

Well it's been a while but we are getting there!!

I now have a rolling chassis, engine, gear box and diff are all in.
They did find an old crack in the bell housing but it's not going anywhere so we've just bolted it back on.

Only trouble is that now the engine looks really scruffy compared the new chassis.

Hopefully in 2 weeks I'll have my car back.

Right then, FINAL POST!

After a few weeks delay I finally got my Chimaera back from Sheffield.

Overall it took 13 weeks to complete the rebuild. Longer than expected but quicker than I could have done it!!

There were a few extras that put the cost up a bit (PM me if you want a full breakdown of the costs).

I also had the pre-cats removed (they cut the manifold and then re-welded).

The chassis looks really good and it handles well too. Took it to the lake district for a run and the only problem I had was getting over the speed humps on the camp site.

Now for some more relaxed fettling!!
