The Waiting is Killing Me....

Back in January I bought a Chimaera after a bit of a search. I wanted a 4 litre so I could have TVR Power's turbo fitted. After speaking to Dom he suggested a maximum mileage of 50k.
The car was delivered direct to TVR Power and we agreed the turbo upgrade, a new cam and a 500 clutch. I also wanted a new radiator as it looked a bit tired.
The engine was removed and Dom sent some pics. Not good.

The cam bearings are shot:

Dom will give 3 years warranty with this rebuild and turbo so pleased that I should have a good reliable engine.
I've owned the car for 2 months, never driven it and its cost me a fortune. I must be bonkers. And its still in pieces being worked on so I am no nearer driving it.

Dom puts the black discolouration down to lack of oil between the crank and shells probably at speed so heta may be a factor.
Glad its all being done so wont be worrying about strange knocking from my bottom when on full chat. Crank was okay as were the bores.

The plan is to do all my fave roads in bonnie Scotland especially the A93, Skye and oop north

This will probably be my last crazy car fling as knackered back and old age creep up. Wanted the fun before I'm pensioned off with an auto in a euro box

Are you running standard ecu or are you having this upgraded with the rebuild ?

Its a new MBE ecu. Gets rid of the stepper motor, MAF and dizzy apparently. Replaced with coil pack driven MBE system and has new wiring harness, trigger wheel and larger injectors.

Lol yes. Drove back from Coventry to Wakefield keeping the revs under 2500 so that has hard work as it wants to go. Still, with 14 miles of roadworks on the M1 at a crawl I certainly didn't over rev it.
