Tell me about clutches

Just wanna field this out there before I go mental tomorrow, perhaps unjustly. Is there any clutch kit out there at the moment for the Chimera that is really expensive, and if so what benefits does it have over the stock clutch?
I'm going through a quotation at the moment for my car to get it's Japanese MOT and fix an engine oil leak. The quotation is rather high, and there is 4 pages of it. Am working through it and I see there are clutch parts listed. Now I'm willing to give the benefit of the doubt, and even if I never found any clutch problems myself, does not mean it was not worn and best take the opportunity now to replace it. I do have a little issue with the price.
eg 120 quid for a thrust bearing, 610 quid for a clutch plate!!!
Total price for clutch parts 1,500GBP +284 labour
I believe someone is taking the p... but am keeping an open mind.

400 to remove and refit exhaust
320 full wheel alignment
220 power steering hose
I'm thinking 1500 is a bit much for a clutch, what say the collective?
