I think i found the problem.
Gudgeon pin had slipped in a worn piston and made this mess.

I realize now its the small end of the conrod thats goosed and let slip.

Time for the next chapter.
New rods and forged pistons, rebore to 96mm.

Open to options and ideas people.

I watched some program on top fuel dragsters in the states where they strip down the engines in the pits between runs, I think they have about an hour or 90 minutes. Is that what you're like as well wink
90 mins is pushing it.
Taken me 2 days to strip it down and remove from the car. I have had lots of brews and contemplation breaks though. Lots to decide

Update.
The block and crank are with Roland at ACR near Chester.
A new liner to be fitted. A rebore to 96mm. Offset grind the crank to 86.3mm. Chevy rods and a nice set of custom forged pistons.

I am going to fit a new M248 cam and solid lifters too.

Onwards and upwards smile

yikes crikey, only just seen this bloke. Hope this will be the last build.
The last Rover bottom end for a while I hope. Top end might get roller rockers at some point. Maybe something interesting induction wise.

Will be made up if I can run regular 11's NA and push towards 9's on gas. May need a better gearbox. Just had the T5 rebuilt and improved by John Reid again so it should last a while.

Yes the big ends are taken down a size. Still plenty strong enough even for my plans wink

Real steel don't stock the 248 anymore may have to settle for the 238.

Real steel don't have any mechanical cams in stock and V8 tuner won't answer the phone!
