I've had European Breakdown Cover on my 1998 Chimaera through my insurance with Manning. With my new cover starting 3rd September they tell me they can no longer offer breakdown cover in Europe due to the age of the car. This is unfortunate as I'm currently in France with the car and will not return until 13th September!

Has anyone experience of any Insurance Company offering car insurance including European breakdown cover on a car of my vintage or anyone offering cover as a stand alone product?

Many thanks in advance.

Many thanks for all the replies. Looks like I'll be trying RH and ClassicLine for a quote.

Did you get anywhere with this? I have a 1965 vehicle insured with RHClassics (just bought by Hiscox BTW), it's a great policy but only available for cars over 20 years old. If I could get my 99 Griff on the same policy I would. I doubt you'll have any joy with just breakdown cover as you are already on the continent. Best bet might be ADAC, I've seen a lot of praise for their cover but they won't issue new policies to UK addresses (due to partnership agreement with a UK organisation), if you have an address in France you should be fine and once you're a member yo can just keep renewing, it includes breakdown cover in the UK.
So far the best deal appears to be with ClassicLine who have quoted a price including European breakdown cover which is cheaper than my previous insurer quoted without. I tried RH but for me their quotation was excessive to say the least. This may, of course, just be my particular circumstances.

I do have an address in France so ADAC could be something to look into in the future.
