Meetup near Banbury, Saturday 27th August
Discussion
3 of us PH Chim owners are planning on meeting up on Saturday 27th August, near the Banbury area. I thought I'd start a thread so if anyone else is around the area or fancies driving up/down/across, then the more the merrier!
Obviously anyone's welcome, even if not in a Chim- although bonus points if it's at least another TVR
Plan is to meet up at The Moon & Sixpence pub at Hanwell, 5 minutes North of Banbury- it's got a decent sized car park, outside seating, and I'm told does good food! We met up with Jason (TVRJAS) there a couple of weeks ago and it seemed ideal for a meetup. I figured we could have a butchers at the cars, have a chat and get some lunch in while we are there.
There are some pretty good roads around there too, and if my friendly photographer (and soon to be Mustang owner) is free, I'll get him along and see if we can find somewhere to get some good group pics of the cars.
Weather forecast at the moment is looking spectacular for that particular day, so providing nothing changes it should be ideal.
We can sort out times etc nearer the day, whatever works best for people, this isn't going to be a masterpiece of organisation- more a case of just turn up!

I'm attending "TVRs at the Palace" event - Blenheim Palace, Woodstock, Oxon OX20 1PP on Monday 29th so with the date being so close I'm not available for this.
Would certainty meet up at another date, perhaps when Nick has took delivery off the Mustang. Not seen one yet up close and would love a little mooch around it.
Have fun
Yeah will definitely arrange another get together before the summer is out, we'll try and do a weekend next month. Nick is collecting his Mustang a week on Thursday (1st) so any Sat/Sun in September bar Saturday 10th (I'm DJing another wedding) is a possibility. I know he will be only too keen to show it off!Would certainty meet up at another date, perhaps when Nick has took delivery off the Mustang. Ford fitted the Borla Attak exhaust system to it last Wednesday, he went down and took a video of it- it's not exactly subtle! Will certainly be good company for the TVRs!

Looking forward to it. Just got mine home from my parents. Made the 160 mile journey with no problems apart from a bit of traffic on the M1 just coinciding with when it decided to start raining... As long as you're above 30mph though, none seems to land on your head
Haha yeah I've found exactly the same! Nosh said:

I may be able to pop over from MK - what time you guys doing this?Nosh
Still yet to set an exact time, but I was thinking aiming to meet up around mid-day? That way it gives people plenty of time to get there without needing an early start, plus it means we can grab some lunch at the pub too if we like.
I'm pretty easy though so if people want to do it earlier/later that's cool with me. My only commitments on Sat is I need to be over at Thame by around 5.30ish.

Enjoy the day lads, I'm at a christening or I'd have popped down, another time chaps
Will do!Yeah that's cool I'm around the Banbury area most weekends as my petrolhead cousin lives up there so will definitely organize another one. He's taking delivery of his new Mustang GT this week, so next time we all get together it will be an opportunity to have a good nosey round that if anyone's interested
WEATHER UPDATE!!
I don't know what people's thoughts are, but the weather for tomorrow is now not looking great at all- basically heavy showers / rain from 9am right through to the early hours of Sunday morning
I'm easy either way, but what are everyone else's thoughts on possibly doing Sunday or Monday (bank hol) instead? Weather is looking good, no suggestion of any rain, and meant to be mostly sunny both days. It's just Saturday that is (typically) the let down!
Obviously it depends whether you guys already have plans or not, I am (for once!) free pretty much all weekend.
What does everyone think?
The long term forecast that originally prompted me to suggest tomorrow has obviously arrived a day early- it is spectacular today, I've even brought the Chim to work!

I could swap to Sunday, but have plans Monday... would prefer a drier day tbh as my rear screen is a bit... flappy! Not great if parked up and it chucks it down.
My rear screen is excellent! However I've yet to adjust my driver's side window so it doesn't quite close all the way to the top... Not great if parked up and it chucks it down. Sunday is good for me though, hopefully it works for the others!
I was going off the BBC weather for Banbury area-
Saturday:- Light rain showers from 9am Sat morning right through until 5am Sunday morning.
Sunday:- Mixture of light cloud and sunny spells all day, but no rain.
Edit: BBC now saying cloudy but no rain until 5pm tomorrow! I guess the best thing could be to wait and see what it's like in the morning and make a decision then?

Had a couple of showers here - however, I need to go to car dealership today......
....we bought a brand new Skoda VRS Estate (awesome car!) a couple of months ago and when the Mrs went out early this morning to the farm she found all the windows open and the car locked! Dealer reckons the button may have been pressed too long when it was locked last night.....
....trouble is, we have the Kessy system, so never use the buttons!
Need to sort that out when she gets back from the farm, so I will probably be unable to make it.
I am free Monday though and that pub looks very nice
Nosh.
No worries Phil, I may well be about Monday as well as I'm popping up to my cousin's and he's only 10mins away from the pub, not to mention it's looking good weather for a drive out anyway.....we bought a brand new Skoda VRS Estate (awesome car!) a couple of months ago and when the Mrs went out early this morning to the farm she found all the windows open and the car locked! Yeah was good to meet you all, no worries about the towel paul, hope you got it back without it getting too wet!
I decided to take mine over to my mates rather than go home and swap cars- i figured it was that wet already it made no difference. In for a penny, in for a pound and 'all that!
Its currently reasonably dry here in Thame so hopefully it stays that way ready for another hour drive home later!
It was surprisingly comfortable driving it the rain though, seemed to keep the rain out and my wipers were excellent. It's like a completely different car driving it with the roof on, very cosy!

It wasnt raining....my app said so, so there.
To be fair it wasnt raining in Thame when I got there, perhaps your app just got a bit 'lost' geographically! I finally got home in the Chim at half-past midnight, certainly covered some miles yesterday and the car behaved impeccably.
It was whilst driving down the M40 in torrential rain, that I decided if it wasnt for me needing an estate car for business, I could definitely use the TVR day in day out, no problem. It's ironic that arguably the most satisfying day's driving ive had out of the car since I brought it occured on the day with the worst weather!
I did manage a single photo whilst we were stood in the rain watching Paul gaffer-tape his rear window... I'll stick it up later. Hopefully next time we'll get better weather for photos and my cousin will be along with all his proper camera kit too
