Looking at chimearas seems like it could be risky business. I've read that chims are a good tvr starting point. There's a few in a garage at the minute called Fernhurst tvr, looking to spend no more than 15k. Just wondering what people's thoughts and opinions are for a novice when approaching this. There's a HC model for 14k that looks good but not sure if the hc will be as reliable or strong or whatever so it'll be good to get a good opinion on the matter. Itll be a second car and stored in a garage and driven fairly regular as it'll be too tempting not too. Thanks guys!

Hi guys just allowed people to email me now. Apologies didn't realise it was set that way. I am okay with a set of spanners and have the means to do simple to slightly more complex fixes if needs be. Also I've seen a few with "engine rebuilt recently" when the car is only on 40, 50, 60k on it. I thought a v8 of that size and relatively low specific output would do many miles. Or what is there definition of an engine rebuild?

Thanks for all the help guys. We are based in Manchester but are willing to travel for the right car of course. At the present moment we are in the process of selling a boat and sorting out finances to fund it so will be looking to actually purchase around February. Just wanted to get some good knowledge prior and possibly go and see one or two but don't want to be that guy that has no intention of buying the car you've gone to see. But again all are welcome to send us pictures of course and its always good to get an idea of the cars for the money and what not so thank you all again
