Hi I have just bought a new oil filter and went to pre fill it with oil as normal, but it wont fill.

I notice that down the middle there appears to be a sprung loaded valve.

Not had this before !

Comments ?

fit it dry ?

Bought from TVR Parts and says its OEM on their label, on the canister it says made in Poland.

They said its definitely the right part and have sold hundreds.

They suggested fitting it dry and disconnecting ht lead to pump oil round without firing.

I haven't fitted it (used land rover part instead).

If I couldn't get oil into it(even tried pushing the rubber flap down through the small holes and pushing down the centre hole)then I wasnt confident my oil pump would.

It is also smaller than the LR one which in my mind means less filtration area so a higher pressure drop (all things being equal)
