Hi folks, I've been in contact with Joolz at kit and classics with intention of having a new Emerald ecu fitted, along with one of his blended bases in the new year.

I've also ordered a decat CF y piece and plan to remove the precats at the same time. My question is this; Joolz has mention a wide band senor as an option and one that quite a few tvr owners are using - what does everybody think? Run it without to begin with, or simply get if fitted and mapped at the same time as the ecu? Is there a strong benefit to be had?

My heads and inlet are all as they came.

Joolz's point is that it allows a lot more flow at high revs and so power.

I know everyone has their own views, but since I'm going to put my faith in Joolz, I think I might as well follow his recommedation on the base...

The wide band isn't too much extra, so I'd be happy to go with it if it's going to improve things.

I assume that it'll mostly smooth out the acceleration, is that right??

So the emerald still uses a Stepper motor then???

What did you have done if you don't mind me asking?

Thanks, certainly some great replies.

I really haven't rime ro tinker much, so perhaps the wiseband isn't necessary..

I like the idea of going 45mm at the same time everything is off. Does this require the heads to come off for port matching?

That's great, I'll ask joolz's about it.
Are you running a standard inlet manifold? I'd love one of act's twin carbon, if for nothing else than the added noise and looks! ;-)

Joolz's recons his never come across a 450 with 45's in all his years, but does say being as it's tvr, you could find any combination! Lol

I have read on here folk with 45's in their 450's, but I'm sure they were 2nd, 3rd, 4th etc owners.....so who knows in reality!

Ok. I'll be chatting to joolz's this week ,hopefully. I agree with you, torque is where it's at for me too, as most of my fun driving is around the peak district where the flexibility of having great pick up whilst driving the twisty stuff is worth a great deal more to me than ultimate top end.

Wow...very interesting, but I see it keeps the AFM. Is that not one of the restrictions? Ans a Stepper motor?

I look forward to this month's copy :-)

About 1k would be great as I'm currently looking at 2.5k for the emerald.I could fit one to my RRC at the same time...so I'd be very interested.

Ok, I'm getting sold on the idea....but being as I'm a salesman that's no surprise...We're an easy sell bunch!

I think if the loom was straight forward, I'd be almost closed on the idea! :-)

No, but seriously, how about plenums....are these also the recommended to the rv8 using gems, I assume it is?

Id love a carbon twin plenum....but only if it truly added credible performance.
