Morning all,

Quick quessie about track day insurance. Can anyone recommend a good and/or cheap track day insurance provider?

On that note, I have heard through the grapevine that Direct Line, my preferred insurer, will cancel your insurance if you admit to taking your wagon on track, does anybody know if there's any truth to this!?!

Cheers!

Thanks guys, lots of useful info there.

Had a couple of quotes and they look roughly like this:

A.Manning - ~£450 fully comp incl. unlimited track day cover, not bad!
Footman James - ~£150!!! not incl track day cover. Thank you TVRCC! They only offer track cover to people >30 yrs of age, which I ain't! Balls!

For that money though I reckon I'd be an idiot to not go with them and get TD cover as I go, I only plan to do <3 this season, can't afford anymore than that frankly! I've asked CCI for a day rate quote as I've heard they're the best for one-offs?

Still need to get a quote from ClassicLine, but I can't believe how cheap Footman James is!

I'm with Classicline. Very pleasant and helpful people.

BUT

they are underwritten by Equity Red Star (ERS). Some masonry fell on to my car so contacted Classicline who then put me through to Equity Red Star. So I was put on hold and after 10 mins gave up. Tried again and no chance. Tried again. Gave up.

So had a look for reviews of ERS. Unsurprisingly I found this:

and this

https://uk.trustpilot.com/review/equityredstar.co....

I know all insurance companies are excellent at taking your premiums. I also now know they are not all excellent when its the other way round.

Bye bye to both in May at renewal time.
EEEK, those are some pretty scathing reviews, may give them a wide berth!

Try competition cars. They're linked to Footman James in some way but include TDs! I'm under 30 btw and my track days are included. Not a TVR mind, but thought was worth mentioning as I bet they can help!
I have done just that and although they agreed to cover me for road use and track days they were a fair bit pricier than ManningUK, all useful info though. Cheers!

I'm currently speaking to Manning's and have received a quote that includes track day cover that is only £80 dearer than my renewal quote from another firm that does not offer track day cover as an inclusion. Given that my car has an agreed value of £20,000 and I know how expensive individual track day cover policies can be it appears to be a no brainer thumbup

Will be speaking to them tomorrow to confirm a few things (protected NCD, breakdown cover, European cover etc.) and will almost certainly change to them.
They also offered me a great deal, £423 fully comp with unlimited UK track days, nearly £100 cheaper than Direct Line who won't touch you if you go on track. Still need to speak with ClassicLine, but I'm weary of Equity Red Star now.
