I have recently bought a 93 4.o and put it through a 48000 service. Have recently noticed rev limiter at 5100...am I going mad...my diesel peugeot does more than that!! According to the Bible 5600 is more likely

Mark said the Standard Landrover chip was strangling the engine above 5,000 rpm and that it was real screamer and wanted to go. it sounds like mine is a bit on the low side assuming the rev counter is accurate, but is the limiter only down to the ECU or can anything else effect it ?

I think I will resign myself to the fact the rev counter is inaccurate !! Have just replaced Ht leads,plug extenders as they were riddled with arc marks and nice crusty oxidised film !!!!
