Last week I took my car to Austec Racing near Gatwick to get the baffles removed from the exhaust and get the perforated pipes replaced with straight through pipes. Result? What a fantastic noise! The car now sounds a lot deeper and throatier on tickover. From 2000 - 4000 rpm there isn’t much difference to the standard set up but from 4000rpm onwards the deep growl comes back again and screams towards the readline. Coming back from Austec on the M23 heading into London I can’t honestly say the noise was very intrusive in the cabin (hood up). It now sounds very American, and the engine and the exhaust note now marries together perfectly IMHO. It is quite hard to put into words but I love it!!!

Also top marks to Austec, I decided to take it to them as they (Mike) guided me through the options over the phone. They also took care of the car’s first MOT and replaced the rear discs and pads all for a fair price (enthusiastic trackdays ). When I collected the car, Mike explained what had been done and spent a fair bit of time to make sure I was happy with everything, definitely a recommendation. They even met me at 10pm to collect my car when I drove it down from London and make sure it was locked up in their garage! Top independents!

i should have got a db reading - totally forgot. i think track days are pretty much out even with the bolt on silencers, but will try and find out the noise level at 4000 rpm ...

By way of comparision in terms of noise output, I think it is just as loud as a sleeved Cerbie but overshadowed next to a Diablo...

As for the trackdays, thinking of getting a cheap japanese car for the trackdays and some sideways action...anyone see the drifting article in this/last mths EVO mag? Wouldn't mind giving that a go!

the exhaust mods too 3 hrs labour - no parts! came up to something like £120. No complaints since I was quoted up to £200 at some other places...
