Tell Me I'm Not Mad!
Discussion
We have just added this little chap to our track day arsenal and await the arrival of the trailer mid Jan. Can I please tap on your expertise and experience to provide some tips and advice on how to make next years track and test days a success. The car has paddle shift and zero hours engine from Radical and has treaded Dunlop tyres (not dry sump yet)
Hope we are not mad. Great thanks, look forward to some gold nuggets

I don't think it was the one you tried out as I had viewed and purchased it the day before on Tuesday 11th and they said it was staying put. They did say Silverstone was on though but not sure which cars they used. The Noble car looked clean in the advert but I don't think I saw it at the factory on the Tuesday.
I also have a blast trial day in the SR1's at Bedford North circuit in November and absolutely love them hence had to have one.
Are you planning any track sessions with yours next year, if so we could get them out together. Radical are providing a days support as part of the sale to show me the ropes. Just waiting for my clam shell SR1 trailer to arrive. Can't wait to get it out there

Thanks Aycee and Bert for your advice. We will run for a while on a few track days to get dialled in to the car then go for the upgrades.
I have also been advised that a cooling radiator fan is a good upgrade to prevent water overheating while doing driver swops in pits really useful for track day type work. Do you have a view on this upgrade? All the control and wiring loom is in place apparently.
Thanks Ray.

So here's another quick question for you guys in the know
Will our SR1 pass the static drive-by noise tests say at Bedford and how and where is it carried out. I'm thinking of us arriving towing the SR1 inside clam shell what is the normal procedure compared with rocking up in the car your tracking where they do it on the way in. Also as the ground clearance is minimal do you need to drop track side or is it ok around the circuit entry roads?
Thanks. Ray.

Thanks for your replies. It is as I thought then a right pain in the arse. I have had noise tests done in the past on another car just outside the main briefing building so if I can negotiate this then I can just drive it from there to the pits without the speed bumps issue. Also I guess I could take the tow car (without trailer)with kit, wheels and fuel to the pit garages that way I could still leave early. We are likely to do this as a team of 3 in most cases so I guess its not as bad as it sounds.
Getting excited now as the Brian James Race Shuttle 2 trailer is arriving on Friday 23rd and we have booked an early track day at Bedford on 30th Jan to shake it all down. I have got to fit the electric winch components to the trailer and make sure all the electrics work correctly via the Freelander 2 tow car so going to be a busy boy this weekend. Thanks for the tips and advice on this thread
Unfortunately we trailered to Bedford on Friday and within the last 5 miles or so there was snowfall. Although we managed to arrive just outside of the briefing time the whole site was closed and we were turned away. So we were none too pleased that no one had let us know during our journey. Anyway Brands Hatch is now booked for Sunday 15th Feb to do shake down.

Hi all, we did Brands on Sunday and it turned out to be a great day. The track in the morning was very damp for a couple of hours so following the noise testing (measuring in at 100dB static for a 105dB limited day) I took it out for a few warm up laps and guess what I spun in Clearways, it was so slippery even at snails pace. I think the tyres needed quite a lot of laps to become efficient maybe after storing the car during winter. Anyway I am looking for excuses really.
Radical support on the day was spot on we learnt a lot about running the car and checking chain tension, tyre pressures, wheel torques, oil and temps all day long. I feel confident we can run the car ourselves next time.
In the afternoon the track had a decent dry line and we felt the cars agility come into its own with strong braking power, fast turn in and good turn of speed. On our next track day I have got to work out the petrol consumption so the correct amount can be supplied to the car for the amount of laps required.
After tracking a road car(996 GT3)this is a whole new ball game and there are loads of things to check before and during the drive, its not just a get in and drive car. Overall it was an epic day though and we are looking forward to the next one.
There was also an SR3 there going very well, anyone on here if so sorry as we didn't get a chance to chat?

Hi GAXOR (Gary)nice SR3 RS, you were going very well, I moved out of your way on quite a few occasions. To be honest there was so much traffic out there until later in the day I decided to yield to everyone who wanted to get by. I thought I saw your trailer exit through the 'IN' tunnel just before the end of the day, we were going to do the same thing but the track gates then opened to finish the session. How much room was there in that tunnel for these very long loads only we are still learning?
