Alas, the time might finally have come after over 17years to get around to replacing my beloved X300 as my daily driver.
So thoughts turn to an XK convertible, I'd probably end up going for one of the Ali bodied X150 XKs (as opposed to my XK150 which is quite another beasty).
So I was wondering what people find are the differences between the earlier 4.2XKR, the newer 5.0XK and 5.0XKR, besides from the engine of course. Its been a few years since I've driven on, my memories of the 4.2XKR was that it was quite quick :-), manually changing up seemed to be a challenge just keeping up with the tacho, when you weren't used to using the paddles.
I'd imagine that the NA 5.0 isn't much slower than the older SC car (I seem to remember someone posting a comment to that effect) and that the new SC is bordering of being a tad fast at times.

Any other differences of note?

Thanks everyone,

Another minor question, does the radio in any of them play audio off a blutooth phone?
B8's 2009 MB has great hands free but won't play music off the phone. The crappy little rental we had on holiday in Portugal would, which was really useful. Is it just an age thing?

Cheers

No, my 2010 XKR 5.0 will not play via Bluetooth. It does however come with a lead to connect your iPod or iPhone to it. You also have another USB which can be used to play music from a memory stick.

The new XKR may have Bluetooth music connectivity - I'm not sure?

Regarding power - the 5.0 XKR is noticeably quicker than the old 4.2 but whether its a good thing is debatable. I find the my car has more power than it can actually use. Foot to the floor acceleration gives a definite feeling that the car is struggling to get all the power through the wheels. The 4.2 XKR doesn't have this feeling, nor for that matter does the 5.0 XK - perhaps the model to go for?
My XK150 felt like that too, but at times it would spin the wheels in the dry in top if you weren't too subtle. Traction control? errr, that's the right hand pedal.

Pity, don't do iThings, and the files I listen too most in the car are audio books from Audible and the damn things have DRM ste on them so you can't just drop them to MP3, which would be the easy thing to do.

Well I plumped for a 5L XKR convertible. I should pick it up next week sometime.
Lady B8 has decreed that I can't have 3 Jaguars, even though she's got a lot more than 3 handbags.
So now I have to decide which other one goes.
