XF S 3.0D DPF Problem

Hi,

Got a 2010 XF 3.0D and the DPF warning is coming on more and more often, is this purely due to frequent short trips in the car? Getting a bit tiring having to take it for a 30 min blast up the motorway to clear it!
Also, if accelerating hard (foot down) on motorway the 'restricted performance' mode cuts in, again more and more often, I'm having to drive even more carefully now.

Thanks for info, looks like it isn't just my car doing this then! I work offshore so only do about 3000 miles per year. Think my next car will be a petrol, just not many big fast saloons are petrol nowadays besides the full fat versions. M5, rs6 etc...
