would you touch a good repaired cat c
Discussion
I have looked at the undamaged cars that are out there and they are around 2-3k more minimum, and some not as tidy! if we get it, will be looking for a good few years with her end of day 5.5k isnt the end of the world I suppose. And I have not seen a cheaper 04 under that price, just need some one here to say just do it thanks all..

The trouble with Cat D and Cat C cars.............
My mums cars was writen off and labled cat C when it only needed a door. I put a door, same colour, from a scrappy on it in 10 mins (cost £30) To look at the car you would never know. But the insurance cost of sourcing a brand new one and painting it + labour for swaping all the electrics etc was well over 75% of the cars value so writen off.
I have had a Cat D car in at work recently that had been repaired badly, all the body and paint was excelent but all the work done under the car and out of site was terrable. Lights were not fitted correctly brackets broken off for intercooler and radiator, wiring routed wrong and chaifing on the body. The car needed arround another £2k spending on it to fix everything.
You have to give the car a proper inspection, knowing what it looked like with the damage that made it a cat C in the first place would help.
I personally would by a Cat C or D car, but only with this information and or full inspection to prove the "good repair" they all claim to be.
i have missed out on the car went to view and it was close on immac there was no body damage but the rear suspension was damaged on one side. (pics) and the rear subframe etc was replaced although not needed to be. the rear suspension was rebuilt in total, it is a cat c but there is no record on the vosa site ? damage was just over a year back I believeMy mums cars was writen off and labled cat C when it only needed a door. Its not a low milage car so why bother,Resale will put people off ,if your not car savey pass on it theres plenty out there...
cheapest late 2004 out there and a good colour combo as I missed out on it there must be interest in these cat write off cars, seen some nasty colours in my view up at around the 8k... seems it will suit some but not others, been looking into the at c and d write offs, a new car with say a damaged wing could be a cat d but an older one with identical damage could be a cat c purely as repair costs would be same but the repair to current car value % will be different, so not so much the damage but the % to value to repair to me a bargain to be had !!Gassing Station | Jaguar | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
