Jag XK/R - A good buy?

Hello all,

I am trying to decide on my next car purchase. Budget is up to £30,000.

I am currently between an XKR, Mercedes C63 and Porsche.

Could any XK/R owners advise on living with one day to day. Real life costs (inc MPG which i'm guessing will be around 18?) and if you have any experience of the other two and how it compares? I assume the 5 litre engine is the one to aim for over the 4.2 if budget allows? is the XKR notably quicker in day to day use than the XK?

I appreciate in the Jaguar section views may be slightly biased, but just trying to do my research fully as never been able to spend anywhere close to this on a car before.

Thanks guys, all great input! The other half got an approved used XF a year back and managed to haggle from a 12 month to 36 month warranty which was great. I must say that buying experience at HA Fox at Southampton was the best we have ever experienced from a dealer.

In fairness I think they all like a drink and that MPG wont vary but more than about 5 per gallon from what I can make out.

Just a bit of an update. I have today been able to test a 5.0 XKR at a local dealership (Harwoods). Staff were excellent and very helpful and I was bowled over by the car, from the very second the engine starts and that noise is produced! The drive was amazing and the power is phenomenal.

I can't see anything else is going to win over this, and I hope to be in the position to make a purchase within the month
