Hi chaps,

Currently I'm running a 94 MB SL (R129). Most of the work I can carry out myself. After an initial big spend when I acquired the car a couple of yrs ago seems to be a good old thing. Fairly simple to work on and plenty of forum help if I get stuck and good spares availability.

Thinking of a change so how will I find an early XK8? Spares availability/cost, home maintenance and general running costs. Thinking of a £6-7k car.

I'm interesed in refinement above a sporty drive, 25-30mpg on a run would be okay. Jump seats in the back a must for a medium size dog. The car will be used as a "GT" for holidays in the UK and europe, we have a small hatchback for local duties. I anticipate 5-6k p.a.

Thanks I saw the XK buying guide today, whilst browsing in WHS.

It all looks quite manageable, I'd need to check carefully for rust though. I love Jags, they always feel special. I've only just got the SL up to scratch, so I might just keep it a bit longer to see some value from the work.
