I have a 2014 V8S in Stratus Grey, now a discontinued colour! When I picked it up from Lancaster Jaguar in Sidcup the car had a few snags and was pointed out when I gave it a once over.

The snags were various and most pointed to the paint! Flacking between the joins on the rear quarters to the rear end of side skirts, ding and scratch on the rear bumper ( trade plate related due to being an ex-demo) and one that stuck out whilst it was inside with no sunlight was the colour difference between the front and rear bumpers and the rest of the car. I was told that the paint was slightly out due to the different surfaces that the paint was applied too, aluminium body and plastic bumpers and that is how it is.

The car got sent away for the corrections to be made minus the one that standed out the most. The rear bumper had to be be fully resprayed during its stay with the body shop as well as the other bits and hold it below the rear bumper matches the rest of the car. The front bumper now sticks out more than ever now. I had my new car 4 days and then it was with them and an approved body shop for nearly 4 weeks. I was fuming.

I have rung Jaguar since with my findings and was told by the sales manager in confidence that I would likey have to get this corrected myself and I told him my displeasure and to past it onto Jaguar Head office.

Anyone have any constructive advice or any input?

I have found out that the bumpers are low baked and the Aluminium body high baked during the process and sent to different places normally.

Love the car though, just not the experience I have had with Jaguar!

It's certainly not confined to Jaguar though, it happens on pretty much all marques. The dealers always come out with the same line of different materials come out different shades, but some cars are a perfect match so that can't be correct, it certainly doesn't happen if you get a car fully resprayed. I've heard of a few problems with F-Type paint, mine was excellent though, not even a swirl, and the bumpers matched the body. Have a look at other cars in the showroom, if they are a good match ask how they managed that on some cars and not yours, they all have plastic bumpers I assume.
Your exactly right, it's only certain cars, which in fact Jaguar have said that 'slip through the net', mine included. They agreed that my front bumper is a different shade and is now being handled with the warranty team. The fact that I have had my rear bumper re sprayed and it now matches shows that it was not right at all and Jaguar have mentioned that they are going to out inspect their cars more thoroughly.

Still annoyed that they tried pulling the wool over my eyes when picking it up and the fact the paint is so thin and susceptible to stone chips, found this out with a micron test at a top detailers.

F-type ownership for me has been up and down, great car, but spoilt in ways.
