So after weeks of agonising over the right spec, and the subsequent anticipation before it arrived, my 3 week old F type is beginning to look a bit bitter.

A few days after collection I noted a couple of panel gaps, some chrome trim which wasn't flush and windows which fogged up quite badly. These minor niggles I can brush off, however this morning I started he car to be greeted by the most ugly shrieking sound - see youtube here for a re-run: https://youtu.be/WdpCEdyrb4g

I've now lost all faith in the build quality of the car and having paid close to 60k after discount am very very unhappy. Where do I stand?

Having briefly seen some commetary on the consumer rigs act which was released I n October this year I'm very tempted to return the car and forget it all happened.

Dream over!

The point of the thread was to question the use of the consumer rights act which came into effect in October - which states that the consumer is entitled to a full refund within 30 days of purchase if it develops a fault and does not mean that the retailer has the option to rectify it initially.

Overall I have lost all faith in the vehicle. That type of noise could have caused significant engine damage which a quick fix may not rectify. Not an issue I want on my hands if I intend to keep the vehicle long term.

As i may have mentioned on another thread, I also discovered the car was PDI'd at a dealer a long way away from the dealer I bought it from, some 6 months ago. Doesn't ring true with what they told me - i.e. they were PDI'ing it which caused a delay in me collecting it (and the implication that it was sat in a compound having rolled off the production line).

"Merchantable quality."
If it isn't then a cash refund comes your way.
These rights cannot be signed away.
Car manufacturers hate this law and try to pretend it doesn't exist. But when they push it they lose.

Far more pertinent is that Jaguar will be hating this forum thread like crazy, it is toxifying their brand.
There will be much spitting of feathers at JLR HQ tomorrow morning.

Meanwhile should I cancel the idea of the wife's F Type convertible for the summer and get her a Boxter instead?
I hate to say it but, probably, yes. I wanted this car to be perfect and truly believed jaguar had turned the corner in engineering and build quality but living with the car even in as little as three weeks you really feel that the whole thing has been built to a cost.

Does anyone have an email for JLR HQ? Website only shows a snail mail address, or drop down enquiry form.

Email going out to dealer tomorrow but want to copy HQ and Jaguar FS.
