E46 M3 to X150 XKR - Good idea?

I have been running an E46 M3 for several years now, and I fancy a change but I'm struggling to think what I should get next.

I have been seriously considering the move to an X150 XKR, as they look fantastic, but I thought I would ask the Jaguar owners on here whether this is likely to be a good progression. How do the two cars compare? The M3 is nicely specced and feels a nice place to sit. How are the XKR's for the quality and feel of the interior?

Have any of the XKR owners on here previously owned an E46 M3, and what do you think of the XKR in comparison? I don't drive the M3 particularly hard, and find it can be a bit harsh at times, so I think I might like something fast but a bit more refined.

Would the 4.2 XKR be worth considering, or would it feel slow compared to the M3?

Any thought and opinions would be much appreciated.

Thought I'd update this post as I have finally bought a Jaguar XKR. I got a 5.0 2012 facelift model and so far, its absolutely fantastic!

I also avoided the problem of replacing the E46 M3 with the XKR by keeping the M3!
