alarm system problem - help!

Hi all

Since changing my battery on my Jaguar XK8 Coupe (1998 model) I have an annoying issue with locking the car.

Both remote fobs seem to be coded to the car system in that I can pop open the trunk/boot with the remote fob and also turn on the lights. However neither fob will lock the car. When I lock the car manually with the key the alarm goes off! Most annoying!

I've tried using the YouTube process of the "five full beam flashes" but to no avail as I don't get the learning mode chirp.

I've consulted a local car lock/key specialist and he's at a loss.

I'm selling the car soon so need to get this resolved.

Any ideas from the Jaguar Brain Trust?

thanks all, will clean up the contacts first, if no joy may have to take to Jaguar and sell a kidney to pay for their expertise!

so, cleaned all the contacts and have successfully paired both fobs with the car. However on locking with remote get same problem as manual lock, so sounds like the battery reset is the way forward! Will try that this week!
