New Shape XK - Any Good (Advice Needed)

Hi all,
My parents are looking to change their 911 C4 (996) for something a little newer and are considering an 18-24 month old XK, either coupe or cab. For those of you that own one, can you provide some info on what its like. I'm particularly interested to find out about the reliability and also how it compares to whatever you had previously. My father used to run a Jag garage a few years back so we often got to play with the old XK and XKR, how does the new one compare?
The other car they're considering is a 997 cab, any thoughts on how they compare would also be great.
