Hi,

I am looking to purchase a daily driver that will be used mainly for motorway travel up to about 2000 miles a month. I'm looking at a TT as i'd rather something a little bit sporty feeling rather than the usual BMW 325D.

Can anyone give me some advice as to what would be the best option as regards the diesel or petrol versions of the TT? I've got about £25k to spend so i'd bee looking at a new(ish) one. They both seem to be around the same MPG? as they quote 48-55 on combined / extra urban?

Ahh right! Thanks, your commute sounds much like mine distance wise. I've never bought an Audi before, although I have driven a fair few. Are their any reliability issues that i need to worry about?

I'm looking at an 11 plate TDI quattro, s-line with 10k miles on it.

This one: www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/20123848595...

Its got 19inch wheels on it, will drive during the week but is everyone saying that 19's are a bad idea?

Also, s-tronic or manual? I take it s-tronic is the old DSG?

Why?

Drive them all and pick the one you like the best.
It was a joke smile

I intend to drive the lot, I'll have a go at a sirocco as well this week. Just wanted to see if there were any glaring issues with the range.

TT is much easier to spell than Scirocco :-)

Because you spelt Scirocco wrong in your post, as many people seem to do :-)
Ha! no worries, that was supposed to be a thumbs up emoticion but i got that wrong as well frown

I drove the TT today.

It was loaded to the hilt with extras looked lovely and fast, got in the cabin and it felt nice, started it up and went frown My first diesel so the brain was expecting a nicer sound.

Issues for me first off was the clutch was so light compared to my car that i was all over the place for the first 2 minutes. Once I got over that it had little or no pull away grunt but a nice torque through the gears. I drove it for 20 mins on some country roads and noticed that the ride was quite firm, firmer than I expected but not uncomfortable.

I just need to stop thinking of it as a sports car as it's clearly not with that engine. Other than that I was happy with it. Scirocco tomorrow.

Yeah the clutch can catch you out, I'm still getting used to the A1s. Be interested to hear how you think it compares to the Scirocco, minus the Quattro they are effectively same engine/ same platform.
I pulled away from the lights and stalled it, proper school boy error :|

I'm not sure i like the looks of the Scirocco if I'm honest but it's just there as a daily driver so it's the comfortability / practicality in truth that should rule the decision. For instance - The back seats in the TT are small, ok for kids for sure but i forgot about the leg-room? I'm only 5' 7'' and there wouldn't be any legroom (or headroom) for an adult in there..
