My A6 (3.0tdi quattro 2007) has now done 110k miles mostly Mway and rural roads. The tiptronic box is working fine just the same way it did when the car was new. But some say change the oil, Audi say its sealed for life and others say changing will cause problems.

What do people think? Who has changed theirs? Did problems occur? Who hasn't changed t5heirs? Any problems?

Cheers

Just had a quote from a specialist indy of £186 inc VAT.

Interestingly he was telling me that he currently has an A8 in his workshop from Audi. The gearbox has failed and the reason Audi gave to the customer is - "It wasn't serviced"

There is nothing in the Audi service schedule to suggest that it should be serviced

That's laughable from Audi.

I thought the oil alone was around that price.
I thought the same about the oil price. All this indy does is auto boxes, perhaps he buys a lot of oil. He was able to give the ZF model numbers for the A6 tiptronic boxes fitted during the build period of my car. He sounds like he knows what he is doing.

Filter change is in the price. I will check the oil spec with him

After 110k miles the gear change feels no different from whent the car was new. Slightly jerky going from 2nd to 1st and imperceptible the rest of the time unless in sport mode when its fairly agressive.

Its so tricky - if it aint broke don't fix it vs preventative maintennance

Original op here. I found a solution. Ran the car to 117k miles the. Part exchanged for an Evora. A wheel bearing started rumbling when I was on the way to the exchange. Told the dealer and she honoured the deal we had. Now worrying about a £3k clutch replacement. Do I or don't I before a Europe trip?

Firstly welcome smile

I doubt there are many manuals out there. IIRC the 3.0tdi Quattro tiptronic has a very good rep for longevity. I am not sure but the 2.7 may use the multitronic box, if it does avoid those cars

In the end I didn't change the oil in mine, I sold it with 116k miles on the clock, still driving exactly as it did when new. Had I kept it I would have changed the oil.

I assume that a manual will need to have the clutch done at some point, not sure how long they last.

The Tip box suits the A6 3.0tdi perfectly
