Had a problem a couple of months ago, car suddenly started losing coolant and warning lights came on. Spent a week with Audi who diagnosed it as a broken water pump, which was replaced along with a host of other parts impacted by the leak including new cambelt etc. All has been well since, until this week when the warning light lit up again and sure enough coolant below the minimum level.

It;s going back into Audi for fixing, it's under warrarnty thankfully. Any ideas what it could be, is this a common issue? It's in an Audi A1 if it makes any difference.

So it's been into Audi, no external leaks found so they said it must be leaking internally. They said it might be the EGR cooler.

They said they could check it but it's a big job and if it turns out not to be the EGR then I would have to pay the labour for them checking, which doesn't seem fair at all seeing as it's in warranty. They've asked me to do a test over the next 500 miles to see exactly how much it is losing, and then it will go back in. I will get them to check the EGR and if they want monet for it I will kick up a fuss with Audi.

If the new water pump defo isnt leaking, then there is the posibility that there was air trapped in the system after it was replaced. I've know them take a week or so for it to work its way out, which lowers the coolant level, unusuall for it to be months though.

If in the 500 mile drive the level doesnt go down, then thats probably what it was.
Thanks TT, will monitor it for 500 miles and update

My problem was never sorted, it lost all coolant twice in a couple of days, then after Audi looked at it and topped it up it hasn't leaked again. Very weird.
