Audi S5 4.2 V8
Discussion
At what sort of age/budget?
Just bought a Sportback with lots of toys as wanted the 3.0T/s-tronic over the V8 but can see the appeal if fuel isn't a major factor or if looking at earlier cars.
Space-wise inside you'll probably not notice much difference in the front apart from a higher roof line. Rear seat access in the Coupe is pretty tricky and there isn't stacks of legroom in the back, but OK for occasional use. Boot is decent.
Specs can be all over the place so best to download a brochure off the Audi used section and work out what minimum kit you want, as a starting point, and if any of the Drive Select stuff is important to you

I have a 2008 v8 owned for nearly 3yrs, 28k to circa 68k now.
When I went looking I wanted nav, ami, b&o, heated seats and bluetooth as a minimum I ended up with this plus camera, memory seats, adaptive lights. Dont think I found a car with drive select, seems to be rare option at this age.
initially discounted black and black but when I came across mine in phantom black all polished up it caught my eye along with the decent spec.
mpg is 25 average mostly motorway, seen 30mpg once ! Aswell as 12mpg
I carried on the approved warranty circa 1k ( 2yrs now so 2k in total) and its served well ive had pass door handle replaced, petrol flap solenoid, vacuum valve, 2 b&o amps (700 each) plus a couple of speakers and a few other bits and bobs.
Servicing isnt bad for a v8, mine is in for a major service which is oil, filters air and oil plus spark plugs and its 375.
edit : to add brakes discs and pads have been changed once in my ownership along with 1 set of tyres (30k miles out of both)
17k might get you leggy 09car which comes with the hdd nav (if it has nav) opposed to dvd, mirrors are different and the rear clusters are led ( I had these fitted by dealer as part of the deal with some cash) opposed to the original bulbs.
look forward to seeing the new purchase, ps the v8 sounds better than the v6t imo

Here's a link to an early brochure:
http://www.audi.co.uk/content/dam/audi/production/...
Doesn't cover the specs of the auto - I presume they weren't available at launch. Pretty sure the auto box is the later 6 speed ZF so a pretty reliable unit.
I guess the manual vs auto decision will limit the search most in the first instance?

How did you find that? I want to see if they have one for the 09' S6Dr G said:
If anyone needs specific age/model brochures I have virtually all of them from about 2007 to date.
Could you e-mail me any you've got that cover our S5 Sportback, registered Sept 2011? Audi site seems to have really random selection - usually most recent, plus the first, and nothing in between!Gassing Station | Audi, Seat, Skoda & VW | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
