Hi all,
Not posted here before,
Purchased S5 Conv,in Feb this year,
Yesterday it overheated and today been the same, cars only done 20k miles, and just due for its first real service, after I looked, and pressure tested, all was fine, Im now worried it may be water pump, surely not? Has any others had a problem? My warranty ran out in march this year, and im traveling through Spain, would a dealer here, do the job as a good will gesture?
Any advice eould be helpfull.
Cheers

Three year old car and due its first service? Not thats its relevant to your fault but i fear for cars on extended service intervals, theyre supposed to be done every 2 years or 18k, whichever comes first.
Hi, think you miss read the post, its last inspection was Feb this year carried out at Audi, this is first major service, due in 2wks,
On the S5, its supposed to be serviced, every year, not 2yrs, and mine has already had 3 inspections, this is 4th but major service

Water pumps are prone to failure on these. I doubt you will get any goodwill but it's always worth a try. If not it's an expensive job so try to find a decent indie.
Thanks for the responce, after doing some investigating, it seems that up to 2011 they used a plastic impellar in the water pump that perishes with heat and fails, seems like the problem im having,
Will never buy anothet Audi even if it were the last car left on the planet. Very dissapointed. Time to sell.

I didnt miss read anything, look at your post, you said its first real service, which part of that did i miss read? Also S5's can be on long life servicing as long as they're done to schedule with the correct oil. What makes you think they cant?
I am only reading what the in car comp tells me, and it tells me its due another service, even though an inspection was done in Feb this year. Regarding post, I said first major service, the others were just inspection services.
This was supposed to be the every day car in my stable, reliable, no hassle, not the start i was hoping for.

If its got full audi history I think you will have a good case for goodwill percentage on this, word to the wise - dont let them fit another plastic one!!

When I bought my A6 The first thing I did was get the cambelt changed and at the same time had a metal impeller pump fitted, my wifes polo had a plastic impeller and that one shat its self too - again VW paid most of it on goodwill.

Most VAG cars up to 2011 had plastic impeller pumps btw, not all of them have failed...
Yes it has full Audi service history, it had only covered 15k miles when i bought it, now covered 20k, so only 750miles per month average.
Well maybe there is some hope, Seems as though, they treated you fairly.
Problem is, im in Spain at the moment, not sure, they will be so helpfull.
Any idea of cost to do the job? Im happy to pay something towards the cost, but I would hope, no more than 30%.

Yes its the V6T,
Thanks for the replys guys, I thought it was going to cost alot more, for 400 pounds I think I will let Audi do the job in Spain and just pay it, to save loads of hastle and time.
Thanks again for the help.
