Hi all - my wife is offloading her 2007 Golf GT (170hp) on to me whilst she steals my range rover.
I'm thinking of swapping the golf for something a bit more interesting and the B6 S4 has caught my eye.
Am I being stupid swapping a good condition, nippy 2007 motor for an 11 year old estate (with a V8)? They're both worth about the same.

I'll be using it to commute to the station each day (7 miles all in) and then the odd trip to the countryside and general kid duties at the weekend. Is there any reason to avoid a V8 for short commuting journeys? (Obvs mpg etc isn't a concern)

Thanks for any view

Hmmm, maybe I'll have a rethink, although the thought of having a v8 again is quite enticing. And s4 avant prices are too...

Hi Bug, looking around £7-8k so the yellow is in range! Think it's a touch too lary for me though! I guess in their price range it's all about service history and work that's been done.
Does the jag s type have the supercharged V8? I previously owned a jag XJR with the supercharged 4.2, awesome piece of kit and highly recommended.

I've not heard any rattling, yet (cue enormous rattle as i drive home tonight..)

This one has had an aftermarket Milltek exhaust system fitted. I was a bit worried about it, thinking it'd be too loud and in yer face, however I was pleasantly surprised. The sound is great and not too intrusive. It does still look like 4 baked bean tins sticking out the back of the car though smile
