Audi A8 (4.2) Buying Advice
Discussion
I'm looking at changing jobs in the new year and will proberbly have to drive rather than train to work. I will therefore be looking to buy something comfortable and auto and would like an A8. As a pher naturally this will be a 4.2 (if you are getting a big car get a big engine) mpg not really a problem (20+ is acceptable). I dont have any experience of Audi not having owned one before so would welcome any buying advice. My budget would be around £6K as living in Somerset (narrow lanes, mud and tractors etc) is not the best enviorment for a newer \ more expensive car and I tend to do my own servicing.

On A roads, size is obviously not a problem. On the lanes the OP originally mentioned, size very much a problem - during the 30+ years I lived in Somerset, the company Transits invariably suffered nearside scratches (and worse) after ducking for cover in hedges and verges.
The "other halfs" Rav 4 is scratched to bugg#ry by the overgrown hedgerows so taking on board the comments I think I will look to A6 \ S6. Auto seems to be a bit rarer but would still like to go V8 slippery said:

damm, that does look good. Now the A8 is back in the frame.I have a LWB XJ8 for a while and didn't have any problems with the local roads (although I kept to "A" roads and no trips to the egg farm )
