Hi,
I have an Audi A4 1.8T rated at 163 horses, and would like to know if there is any easy and (fairly) cheap way I can increase its power? I would like to increase power by about 100 more horses, if this is possible.
I did look into remapping, and quite a few places said that it was not worth it.
Any advice or ideas would be great thanks.
Cheers!!

You don't say the year of manufacture but I once had a 2002 A4 1.8T Sport with 163hp as standard and that was mapped to a claimed 195. There was certainly a very noticeable performance gain, particularly in the mid-range. Unfortunately I can't remember the name of the tuning company!

You won't achieve another 100hp just by mapping and I suspect a such a power gain would by very expensive.
Hi...sorry...2003 A4...I realise that mapping alone wont do it, but would like to top 200 horses...

And you think upgrading what you have will be hard ? 1.8T engine can make 400hp without too much bother, its all been done.

The way this will go is you'll spend a couple of grand on a 10 year old car, you'll probably experience some premature wear due to the upgrade and then want some more performance from it. You then either throw a boatload of money at it to put the car in a decent state and get the power you want or get rid of the car for next to nothing and get something else.

Here you go, this will get you your 100hp http://www.goapr.co.uk/products/turbo_b6a4_k04.htm...
Too simple an answer to what was quite a simple and straight forward question....and a whole load of assumptions too. Oh well....thanks for the link...

Assumptions get made when you don't provide enough information. Saying something is "too simple" doesn't help. What do you think is wrong with 'simple' anyway?
Seriously, how much more information is needed?....., or how much simpler could I make my original question.....????

163 will be a K03 engine and map to about 200 ponies.

They go fairly well in this state of tune and have a pleasingly beefy torque delivery. You may well find this is all you want.
Thanks very much for the info Dr G. Sounds about what I am after.
I will look into mapping some more. Cheers!
