RNS510 connection to Android phone

Morning All
I have just taken possession of a Golf with an RNS510 sat nav system which does not appear to have bluetooth. Does anyone know if there is anyway I can play music through it from my Samsung Galaxy Note 3 phone (Android) as the physical connector is only Apple-based.
I have tried connecting the phone using a "Cablejive" apple-to-android adaptor cable (which works on my Bose sounddock) and if I turn the volume up to max on both car and phone I can just hear what is playing as a distant, tinny noise but that's the closest to success I have come.
I have also tried using a Kensington FM Transmitter but the car doesn't seem to be able to find it. All very frustrating. So if anyone can assist I would be hugely grateful. I can't believe there is no way to connect the two systems!
