I am looking at a used Audi and am not sure which way to go. Lets just say its one of their sportier models but not an R8 and I am down to two cars, both the same price but

car 1 is from a Audi dealer , has sat nav and b&o system but 40k miles
car 2 is not from an audi dealer but a reputable prestige franchise dealer group, has no sat nav or b&o system but has only done 10k

bearing in mind the sat nav is not full postcode so its not that great, how poor is the non b&o system?

Neither car is right but I need to buy in the next few days?

what would you do if you did 20k a year and were keeping the car 2 years?

higher spec or lower mileage?

Neither if it's not what you really want

Travel a bit further and get the right car
I always travel nationally for my cars glasgowrob so I am already casting the net as far as possible but good point as I could have being doing the 50 mile radius of my house scenario like I am sure some people do.

Age and mileage of cars in question??

If less than 3 years I'd look for non franchised with FSH and the spec you want - you get the Audi warranty so have peace of mind and avoid the significant price premium associated with main dealers. If more than 3 years I'd be tempted to look for good deals in the dealer network and only go outside of the network if you find a car that's bang on in terms of your wants and needs.
Both cars are 4 years old so the higher mileage one in the dealer network is more attractive with its Audi Warranty, I just don't like giving up 30,000 miles for a bit of extra kit.

The approved car is the one to have though as the warranty is worth quite a bit and I may get two free services with it.

Lets see tomorrow when they open for business what happens.

Update, I have purchased the car with sat nav, B &O. etc.

I really wanted the Audi Warranty so it won easily, I did put a call in to the non Audi dealer and they wouldn't budge on price and said it was perfectly priced, I said Good Luck!!

Havent seen it yet but have a refundable deposit with the dealer subject to inspection on Wednesday pm.

Thanks

Well the inspection went well - not!! what a waste of time, the car was a shed and had not been well prepped or well looked after so I walked.

The hunt continues!!

deep scratches to the roof, needing painting. Alloys had been refurbed but just painted and you could see the scuffs underneath the paint ie no repair done.

Dent in bonnet and door, scratches on 2/3 panels and is was supposed to be prepped.

Also, inside you could tell it hadn't been looked after. All the plastics were marked, scratched so it had had a hard life.

Cant see how it was an approved car to me.

So every cloud and all that.....

turns out I am glad I didn't buy the car I was supposed to as I have found and done a deal on what seems to be a cracker.

same price but 20k mileage and was an Audi demo first of all so has tons of extra spec like Audi Drive Select, Sports Differential, Reverse parking Camera, B&O, Nav, keyless entry etc etc.

I have compromised on colour as I was after black with cream leather and this is grey with black but its the V8 engine I am after and there are not many of these things around especially with an Audi warranty.

Collect it Wednesday.
