Hi guys,

I recently got some H&R springs fitted to my B5 A4. I'm now thinking I probably should have done the dampers along with it as they were 40mm drop springs and the current dampers have probably never been changed in the car's life.

I'm trying to find some reasonably priced dampers, but most of the websites I've looked at aren't 100% clear on whether they'll fit or not as they say things like "fits all excl. quattro" or "fits all excluding vehicles with air con". How does having air con or not make any difference to whether the dampers are suitable for my car? Is it due to weight?

The only ones I've found that my car fits all the criteria for are some Bilstein B8's but I don't really want to spend 500 odd quid as it's not really necessary as it's not a track day car or anything like that.

So if any of you could recommend some dampers that will be fine for my car or just clarify on whether or not I can fit some that don't fit all the criteria it would be much appreciated.

Thanks smile

ETA the car is an A4 1.8T Quattro Sport

Are they really track springs, though? H&R seem to use the word "stance" an awful lot. B8's would be great, but £500 shocks on a £2000 car could be unnecessary.
I wouldn't really call them track springs. They were either H&R sport or H&R super sport springs, I can't remember which. They are supposed to fine fitted with standard dampers, plus I think the Quattro Sport is supposed to have sport suspension as standard anyway.

But I just wanted to upgrade to some slightly better dampers as they could do with a refresh, don't really want to go £500 better though. Maybe just best to stick with the current ones or just get some fresh Audi ones.
