2015 Touareg 262 R line
Discussion
Harry I would be interested in some further updates regarding your experience with your new car. I ordered one on Tuesday but am not taking delivery until 1.9.2015.
I had a couple of test drives prompted in the main by the fantastic deals of offer, I went in expecting not to like it and came away very impressed, it will be a complete departure for me, but I just fancied something a bit different this time around.

Harry - have you had a play with the RNS 850 connected touch screen nav yet?. I am just wondering if it's possible to copy CD's and MP3's etc to the hard drive. On my BMW system you can tick an option when playing a CD to copy that CD directly onto the hard drive. I also downloaded a large number of songs to my USB stick and uploaded them directly to the hard drive from the USB port in the glove box. I don't know if the SD card readers are supposed to work in a similar way to the USB port on a BMW to enable you to upload music to the cars hard drive.
Thank you Harry, that's good to know. The space saver spare looks the same as the one we had in the Mercedes in the sense that you have to inflate it in order to use it. I do like the additional security of a space saver, especially when in rural locations. In Northern Spain last year we had to try five seperate petrol stations for premium unleaded, I hate to think how difficult it would be getting a 20 inch replacement tyre.
I have seen in the brochure that it's possible to get access to Google Maps and Traffic updates, but only if you have an Internet connection via your phone, not a problem in this country but I wonder what the roaming charges would be if you forgot to deactivate it and were travelling abroad.

Looking good Robsdesk.Looking forward to your impressions once you have done a few miles. I was also quite surprised how responsive it was off the line, a lot of automatic American cars have a similar "step off" characteristic.
Car magazine ran the previous version as a long term test car and recorded a 0-60 time of 6.9, which is excellent for such a large car. The current model does have slightly more power and torque, but does have SCR, which some people think may blunt performance a little.

The PCH pricing is interesting.Prior to the March 15 £5k reduction in the list price a two year deal was working out around £462 per month (inc vat), this dropped to around the £355 mark and since the removal of the £5k price reduction has only increased to around the £395 mark, so support must still be out there, unless some dealer have pre-ordered cars.
Robsdesk - thank you for the comprehensive write up,I am glad you are enjoying your car. So far I have heard nothing but positive comments from owners, so really looking forward to taking delivery of mine. If all goes according to plan, I will be picking mine up on 1 September and then driving down to Southern Spain in it the following day, so it should be we'll and truly run in on my return.
Rob- I agreed the delivery date as part of the deal, as my current contract does not run out till then. I also agree on the electric front seats they should be standard on a £50k car, but I am in a similar position to Harry, I will drive it 99.5% of the time, so once the seat is set that will be it. I also tend to have different priorities based on whether I am buying or leasing, and nearly went for the area view, but when looked at as a percentage of the total lease cost it just did not make sense for me. If I were buying I would also have opted for the air suspension and area view. I think the car comes very well spec'd as standard, so I am quite happy with the "basic" car.
